Manitowoc & Energiency: successful deployment for global energy efficiency

Manitowoc, a world leader in crane manufacturing, recently took a giant step towards optimizing its energy efficiency thanks to a successful collaboration with Energiency and Actemium. This strategic initiative, initially launched in France, has produced impressive results and served as a model for successful deployment in the United States, notably at the Shady Grove site in Pennsylvania.

A project inspired by success in France

In 2021, Manitowoc's French plants in Avermes and Saint-Nizier-sous-Charlieu integrated an advanced energy management system with the help of Energiency and Actemium. The aim of this collaboration was to improve energy management by closely monitoring electricity and gas consumption. Thanks to real-time data monitoring, the plants were able to identify and exploit energy-saving opportunities, leading to a significant 11% reduction in energy consumption at the Avermes site. Impressed by these results, managers at the Shady Grove site in the USA decided to replicate this successful model. In collaboration with Actemium INP, they deployed Energiency's energy management platform, connecting 50 energy meters for continuous monitoring.

Deployment and results in the United States

The Shady Grove project monitored 100 data streams to control energy consumption, particularly for electricity and gas. Each year, the site consumes around $240,000 in electricity, attributed to uses such as the paint booth, heating and cooling systems, and compressed air use. The ambitious goal is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 30% by 2025.

Thanks to the implementation of Energiency's data monitoring system, the Shady Grove site has been able to carry out more accurate and timely energy performance assessments. The energy savings achieved through this initiative testify to the effectiveness of the system deployed and Manitowoc's commitment to sustainable development.

Conclusion

Manitowoc's success in improving its energy efficiency, both in France and the United States, illustrates the importance of proactive energy management and rigorous data monitoring. This success story demonstrates that well-planned and executed measures can lead to substantial energy savings and a reduced carbon footprint.
